Compact 40-W DC-DC Converters Offer 2:1 Input October 10, 2008
Packaged in a 2-in. × 2-in. case, the C4000RW series of 40-W DC-DC converters offers a wide 2:1 input range, tight line-load regulation, high efficiency, and wide temperature operation. Included in the series are 12 models that operate from inputs of 9 to 18 V dc, 18 to 36 V dc, or 36 to 75 V dc. Standard features include a tight line/load regulation of <0.5%, an input/output isolation of 1.5 kV dc, and efficiency as high as 90%. All models have output power protection, over-temperature protection, and continuous short circuit protection (with autorecovery). Also standard is a remote on/off control input. The mean time between failure, or MTBF (per MIL HDBK 217F) of the C4000RW series is greater than 1 million hours. The C4000RW family is packaged in a compact 2.0 × 2.0 × 0.42 inch metal case with industry-standard pinout. Each model is specified for operation over the wide temperature range of -40°C to +60°C ambient. No derating or heat sinking is required over this range. Cooling is by free-air convection. The C4000RW series is an ideal choice for a variety of board-level applications requiring compact size, high output power, and robust performance. Suitable applications include telecommunication and data-communication systems; industrial process equipment; automated test and measurement instrumentation; and board-level power distribution subsystems.
