ADC Simplifies Automotive Radar Applications

October 01, 2008
Designed for continuous-wave chirp radar systems, the MAX11043 quad, 16-bit, simultaneous-sampling ADC provides a complete solution for conditioning and digitizing IF signals from a 24 GHz or 77 GHz radar front-end for a DSP or microprocessor. The device integrates four discrete analog filters, four simultaneous-sampling ADCs, a 12-bit control DAC, and a versatile filter block and PGA on each of its four channels. Other features include an internal or external reference, power-saving modes, and a two-stage, 12-bit DAC providing the VCO control voltage to the RF mixer in the radar front-end. Available in a 40-pin TQFN package measuring 6 mm x 6 mm, prices start at $8.03 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
