RISC SoCs Support Differential Sensors May 14, 2008
Expanding the RISC MAXQ microcontroller product line, the MAXQ7665 and MAXQ7666 SoC, mixed-signal microcontrollers interface with anisotropic magneto-resistive (AMR) sensors to provide a complete system for contact-less sensing of linear or angular position/displacement. Requiring 7mm x 7mm of board space, they integrate all necessary functions to measure the low-amplitude signals of AMR sensors and provide analog and/or digital outputs. The SoCs employ a 16-bit RISC MAXQ microcontroller core, backed by a 16 x 16 hardware multiplier and 48-bit accumulator. They process digitized data and execute applications at speeds up to 1MIPS per MHz, while consuming 0.25 mA per MIPS. In addition to integrating 512 bytes of SRA for data, the MAXQ7665 integrates 64 KB and the MAXQ7666 offers 16 KB of automotive-grade flash memory. Other shared features include an eight-channel differential input, a programmable-gain amplifier (up to 32x), and a 12-bit, 500-ksamples/s ADC.
