Slimmed Down Industrial Ethernet Switches Maintain Temperature Ratings December 10, 2007
Reacting to users’ demands for industrial-grade Ethernet switches that minimize panel space requirements, the newest members of the Lanolinx line include 5- and 8-port unmanaged Ethernet switches that are 45% thinner than previous models. The 5-port LNX-500A and 8-port LNX800A and LNX-800A-T (extended temperature range) maintain their metal housings with an IP-30 rating, unlike other thin models, which use plastic housings. They also maintain their industrial temperature range of –10°C to 70°C for the standard units and –40°C to 80°C for the –T version. The switches have a redundant power input and a contact closure for a local alarm. The LNX-500A draws 2.93 W and the LNX-800A 4.71 W. The devices conform to IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u and use the CSMA/CD protocols. They feature 10BaseT and 100BaseT transfer rates and a 512-kbit buffer. Both switches measure 30 by 95 by 140 mm.
