Projector Chip Makes DLP Technology Affordable

The DLP .7 XGA 3 chip for front-projection products in the 5,000 to 7,500 lumen range promises to bring 3-chip DLP brightness, color, and reliability to budget-constrained, large-venue users in the professional A/V market. Named for its diagonal size, resolution, and architecture, the .7 XGA 3 chip is suitable for applications in venues that include conference rooms and auditoriums, and e-cinema. The .7 platform allows for a smaller light source, prism, and DLP chip and will initially launch in 1- or 2-lamp configurations. According to the company, products will come with a full set of lenses, shifts of +100% and -50% vertical and ±20% horizontal, and more light for fully saturated colors.
