FCI Expands D-Sub Offerings With MicroTCA Input Connectors

May 30, 2007
The company's latest D-subminiature 7W2 connectors enable -48V or -60 Vdc input connections to power modules used in MicroTCA shelves. Each power contact provides up to 24A of current-carrying capacity. The shielded connectors are designed to fit the faceplate on the front side of a power module in accordance with the MicroTCA specification. Both board-mount and cable connectors are available. The board-mount connectors include through-mount options suitable for wave soldering or pin-in-paste reflow soldering. Cable connectors have either two standard solder bucket signal contacts or a a pre-installed shunt on the signal contacts that supports first-mate last-break functionality. Power contacts are available in both solder bucket and crimp versions for cable termination. A 24V/49A version will be available in the second half of this year. Pricing for the Micro TCA high-power I/O connecter ranges from $2 to $10 each. FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
