Altera Releases Low-Cost Transceiver-Based FPGAs
June 2007 Issue
Published Date: May 08, 2007
The Arria GX family of transceiver-based FPGAs are optimized to support PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, and Serial RapidIO standards at data rates up to 2.5 Gb/s. Features include Stratix II GX transceiver technology, flip-chip packages, software tools, and verified IP cores. To immediately start designing with the devices, users can employ Quartus II design software version 7.1. The family hosts five devices ranging in density from 21,580 to 90,220 logic elements, up to 4.5 Mb of memory, and up to 176 multipliers. Built on TSMC’s 90-nm process, the family addresses market demands for low-cost FPGAs with transceivers. The devices provide up to 12 full-duplex transceiver channels optimized to implement the aforementioned protocols. Set for production in June, prices start at $50 each/25,000 for the EP1AGX50CF484C6.
