Luminary Micro Debuts First Cortex-M3-Based MCUs
May 2006 Issue
Published Date: May 12, 2006
Initial members of the Stellaris family, the LM3S101 and LM3S012, emerge as the first 32-bit microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M3 processor. According to the company, via the ARM architecture, designers may never have to upgrade architectures or change tools. The premier MCUs feature 32-bit RISC performance, 20-MHz operation, on-chip memory, 8 KB of single-cycle flash, 2 KB of single-cycle SRAM, and a generous array of interfaces and other standard MCU functions. The LMS3102 adds an I2C bus and interrupt generation, making it suitable for stepper-motor applications. A development kit with ready-to-go software and tools is available. Price is $1 each.
