Chip Inductors Trim Down
December 2005 Issue
Published Date: December 14, 2005
Assuming position as the industry's thinnest, the CKP3216 series 1206-size, multi-layer chip inductors specify a maximum height of 0.9 mm, making them prime candidates for a plethora of portable designs. The components are available with current ratings from 0.7A to 1.1A and with inductance values from 1 μH to 4.7 μH. They rely on a proprietary internal-electrode printing process, which allows the thickness of the internal conductor to be doubled. This approach is said to result in significantly lower dc resistance specifications. A unique feature of the series is the prevention of inductance drop during the application of high current, which is an essential requirement in ultra-portable applications. Sample pricing is $0.20 each. For more details. call TAIYO YUDEN INC., Schaumburg, IL. (800) 348-2496.
