Suitable for data recording, video surveillance, and other video applications where video data is transferred over a network, the TS-Video PMC video capture and compression card pairs a powerful Altera Stratix EP1S30 FPGA with an integrated MPEG-4 encoder. The use of an FPGA is said to provide a high degree of flexibility in terms of adding more functions. These include two RS170 input video streams that allow for overlaying or mixing multiple video images and a single RS170 output channel that accommodates data playback, which can be useful for image simulation.
