Fingerprint Sensor Extends I/O Range
April 2005 Issue
Published Date: April 04, 2005
Expanding the FingerChip family of fingerprint sensors, the AT77C105A is described as the first chip combining fingerprint authentication and state-of-the-art navigation capabilities on an extended, 1.8V-to-3.3V I/O range. Via a patented sweep method, the sensor provides a unique navigation function whereby users can scroll in any direction on the touch pad to browse through menus and select an item or application. The device is also said to exhibit the lowest power consumption on the market: 4.5 mA in acquisition mode, 1.7 mA in navigation mode, and less than 10 µA in standby mode. Other features include a visible area measuring 12 mm x 1.5 mm. Samples of the sensor and evaluation kits are available now. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
