FlashCORE Now Supports DiskOnChip

May 01, 2003
The high-speed flash programming support of FlashCORE is now available for use with M-Systems’ DiskOnChip single-chip flash disks. DiskOnChip technology suits applications requiring growing amounts of nonvolatile memory to store operating systems, data and multimedia content. Specifically, it targets manufacturers of mobile phones, PDAs, set-top boxes, and smart appliances. Manufacturers of these products with embedded DiskOnChip devices will now be able to use FlashPAK desktop programmer, RoadRunner in-line flash programming systems, or PS300 FlashCORE automated programming systems in the design and manufacturing processes. By porting M-Systems’ True Flash File System directly to FlashCORE, OEMs reportedly can program DiskOnChip at speeds unmatched by other programming methods. DiskOnChip devices are programmed on the FlashPAK and ProLINE-Road Runner at a rate of 0.3 second/Mbit. DATAI/O CORP., Redmond, WA. (800) 426-1045.
