A new 5 mm right-angled annunciator LED lamp has been designed to achieve bright and bold illumination for backlit annunciators to facilitate viewing. The WedgeLED’s solid-state circuits and sturdy wedge base make it resistant to the stresses generated by automated machinery and heavy equipment. It replaces the following incandescent lamps at their respective voltages: 5V: 56, 79, 84, 86; 12/14V: 18, 37, 73, 74; 24/28V: 17, 85. The WedgeLED comes in one-LED and two-LED configurations. Colors include 630 nm super red, 610 nm super orange, 590 nm super pure yellow, 525 nm super green, 470 nm pure blue, and 8,000K cool white. Standard voltage is 28V. Bi-colored LED versions and other voltages are optional. With low operating temperatures, the WedgeLED can be used continuously without the concerns accompanying heat-generating incandescent lamps. The LED is useful in zone alarms, emergency interfaces and status indicators for critical processes in nuclear power plants, waste treatment facilities, and utilities. Solid-state design renders the WedgeLED impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. Average life span is 100,000-plus hours.
