LED Family Adds Warm White Sibling
December 2004 Issue
Published Date: January 06, 2005
The latest addition to the Golden DRAGON family of LEDs is a warm-white component that reportedly emits a pleasant warm color in a package measuring 6 mm x 7 mm x 1.8 mm. Designed for specialty lighting chores, the LED exhibits a warmer color temperature closer to that of incandescent and halogen lamps. This is said to be the result of changing the converter mix. White light is normally produced when a blue chip is combined with a yellow converter phosphor. By adding a red converter phosphor, a warmer white tone is achieved. Features include an optical efficiency of 20 lm/W, operating life beyond 20,000 hours, and an operating temperature from -40°C to +100°C. For pricing, call OSRAM OPTO SEMICONDUCTORS, San Jose, CA. (888) 446-7726.
