Fiber Optic Connector Eliminates Manual Polishing

Field installable, the single-mode LIGHTCRIMP PLUS fiber-optic connector eliminates the need for manual polishing, allowing for typical termination and installation times of less than one minute per fiber on a 900 mm, tight buffer termination. The connector relies on a unique fiber splice engine technology that allows alignment of cabled fiber to the factory-polished stubbed ferule. It can be terminated to a variety of field requirements including 900 mm bare buffered fiber, 250 mm coated fiber, 900 mm bare buffered break-out fiber, and 900 mm easy strip or semi-tight buffered fiber. Additionally, the same toolkit and procedures can be used for single- or multi-mode terminations. Available in simplex and duplex configurations, the connector meets TIA/EIA 568 B.3 and can withstand operating temperature fluctuations from -10°C to 60°C. TYCO ELECTRONICS, Harrisburg, PA.
