DDR2 Modules Outfit Sub Notebooks
September 2004 Issue
Published Date: September 24, 2004
Self crowned as the computer industry's first DDR2 memory modules for sub-notebook PCs, the company's Jedec-compliant Micro-DIMMs are 35% smaller than equal capacity SO-DIMMs commonly found in notebooks. The modules are available in densities of 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1 GB, configured with small-size, single-die 512 Mb and 1 Gb DDR2 memory components in 60-ball FBGA packages. The 256 MB and 512 MB Micro-DIMMs employ four and eight single-die devices and operate at speeds of 400 Mb/s and 533 Mb/s, respectively. The 1 GB module uses eight single-die 1 Gb devices. Samples are available now for speeds of PC2-3200 and PC2-4300. Prices for 256 MB and 512 MB modules range from $80 to $100 and $150 to $170 each, respectively, with prices for the 1GB modules available on request. INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES NA, Morgan Hill, CA.
