VGA Lowers Power And Cost Per Channel

Promising greater image quality while reducing power, cost, and size of ultrasound designs, the four-channel AD8335 variable-gain amplifier (VGA) specifies an input SNR of 92 dB and consumes 92 mW per channel while operating from a 5V supply. The device also boasts of a dynamic range up to 10 dB greater than comparable amplifiers. Features include a single-ended input and differential or single-ended outputs, active impedance matching via an external feedback resistor, and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
