August 2004 Issue
Published Date: August 12, 2004
With a bandwidth from 100 kHz to 7 GHz, the MS2721A takes center stage as the first fully-functional, handheld spectrum analyzer designed to conduct accurate analysis on the latest wireless signals, including 802.11a, 3G, ultra-wideband, and WiMAX. The instrument weighs 6.4 lbs. and makes a number of measurements with a single button. These include field strength, channel power, occupied bandwidth, adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR), and carrier to interference ratio (C/I). Specifications include a phase noise of -100 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offsets, dynamic amplitude noise level (DANL) of -153 dBm, and a resolution bandwidth (RBW) range of 10 Hz to 3 MHz. According to the company, the tool provides the fastest sweep speeds of any spectrum analyzer in its class. Base price is $12,950. ANRITSU COMPANY, Morgan Hill, CA. (408) 778-2000.
