RF Meter Suited For Radio Systems Work
May 2004 Issue
Published Date: May 03, 2004
A new RF meter has been designed for engineers involved in the design and installation of radio systems. The RF meter can be used to determine the signal strength of the radio transmitter to be installed, as well as the presence of other RF signals that may cause interference. Range testing and overall installation performance checks are said to be quick and easy to carry out. Two models have been developed to detect RF carrier signals at 315 MHz or 433.92 MHz. Signal strength is indicated by a 10- LED display, with a 1s peak hold function to simplify the reading of measurements. The meter operates from a single 9V flat battery and has a battery low indication. An auto shut-off feature reacts after 60 seconds of non-operation. Housed in a durable black ABS enclosure measuring 4.33" x 2.56" x 0.94", the meter can operate in temperatures ranging from 0°C to +60°C. The unit has an RF sensitivity of –110 dBm and an IF bandwidth of 600 KHz. Price is $80. OKW ELECTRONICS, Bridgeville, PA. (800) 965-9872.
