Cooling Fan Aims To Replace Fan Trays
March 2004 Issue
Published Date: March 09, 2004
A new cooling fan has been designed to achieve high efficiency and low noise. The MRS series of ORIX axial flow fans attains a maximum airflow of 547 cfm with a maximum static pressure of 1.06" of H2O with a single-phase 115 Vac, 60 Hz power input (MRS20-BUL). Other standard models include the MRS20-DUL, with a single-phase 230 Vac, 60 Hz power input and the MRS20-TUL with a three-phase 230 Vac, 60 Hz power input. All models share equivalent air moving performance and are available with a low speed alarm circuit. Audible noise performance is below 61 dB for all MRS 20 models at the rated speed of 3,400 rpm. Fan size is 7.87" x 7.87" x 3.54". The MRS20 can be used to replace large numbers of smaller fans and fan trays in cooling applications. Based on computational fluid dynamics simulations, the MRS20 fan is said to be capable of a cooling effect roughly equal to that of four fan trays with six fan units, each 4.69" square. Operating temperature ranges from –10°C to +60°. A built-in thermal protector promotes safe operation. ORIENTAL MOTOR USA CORP., Torrance, CA. (800) 406-7484.
