Wavy Fins Keep Processors From Overheating December 2003 Issue Published Date: December 12, 2003
By combining wavy fins with a copper core, the WFCC-11 heatsink is said to effectively remove heat from high-power devices, such as Pentium 4 microprocessors, that occupy a small area on pc boards. The copper core is used to spread heat efficiently from the small heat source to the fins. The wavy shape of the fins, in turn, facilitates the airflow to achieve higher heat exchange capabilities.
