Ipv6 Protocol Stacks Developed For Integrity RTOS October 2003 Issue Published Date: October 13, 2003
Two dual-mode IPv6 Internet protocol stacks have been developed for the Integrity real-time operating system (RTOS). The stacks are backward compatible with current IPv4 stacks while reportedly overcoming 32-bit address limitations and security shortcomings. This is said to enable almost an unlimited number of Integrity-based IP devices to be securely connected to the Internet - the rapid growth in demand for Internet-enabled devices is, in turn, sparking demand for unique IP addresses, with the 128-bit technology used by IPv6 designed to help meet the demand. The IPNET dual-mode Internet protocol stack is said to provide complete IPv4 and IPv6 networking solutions, supporting multiple network interfaces, NAT, PPP, and built-in routing table and advanced IP Security (IPSec). The IPLITE, by contrast, provides a compact IPv4/IPv6 protocol stack configurable from 17 Kb of memory for embedded systems requiring a small footprint. IPSec is available as an option for IPLITE. Both stacks are also available with additional network applications, such as Telnet, FTP, DNS and DHCP, as well as with additional security protocols, such as Radius, Firewall and IKE.
