PC Card Adapter Acquires Real Time CAN Data
October 2003 Issue
Published Date: October 13, 2003
Adding a physical layer option to CANopen networks, the ICPCM-CO PC Card adapter allows users to instantly connect CAN networks to a notebook computer and capture messages in real-time. An internal dc/dc converter eliminates the need for an external power supply for this application. Real-time capture relies on a 128-KB CAN buffer that includes 2-KB of dual-port RAM for data exchanges between card and host PC. Complying with CANopen specs, the adapter's SJA1000 CAN controller chip supports data rates up to 1 Mb/s, and the CAN signal is optically isolated from the PC. Additional features include a listen-only mode and support for 11- and 29-bit identifiers. The ICPCM-CO comes with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP drivers and sample applications. Single-unit price is $595.
