Transmitters Suit Up For RS-485 And RS-422 Duties
May 2003 Issue
Published Date: May 01, 2003
Ready for RS-485 and RS-422 communication, the MAX3293, MAX3294 and MAX3295 transmitters operate from a single 3.3V supply and consume less than 5 mA when unloaded. Each device contains one differential transmitter, up to ±15 kV of ESD protection and hot-swap capabilities without erroneous data transfers. The MAX3295 operates at data rates up to 20 Mb/s with an output skew of less than 5 ns and a driver propagation delay time below 25 ns. The MAX3293 and MAX3294 operate at rates up to 250 Kb/s and 2.5 Kb/s, respectively, and are slew-rate limited to minimize EMI and reduce reflections. The devices are available in six-pin SOT23 packages and are specified for both industrial and automotive temperature range applications. Prices start at $0.72 each/1,000. More details are available from MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
