Down-Converting Active Mixer Vies With Passive Types
March 2003 Issue
Published Date: March 01, 2003
Posting input IP3 specs of +20 dBm and +17 dBm at 950 and 1,900 MHz, respectively, and working with frequencies up to 3 GHz, the LT5512 high linearity, down-converting active mixer is said to offer conversion gain and significantly lower LO drive levels compared to existing passive mixers. Targeting applications such as wireless basestations (for GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, etc.) and wireless infrastructure of all types, as well as cable infrastructure and instrumentation, the down-converting mixer IC also includes a differential LO buffer amplifier and an active double-balanced mixer. Further, an integrated RF buffer amplifier improves LO-RF isolation and eliminates the need for precision external resistors. The LT5512 mixer also includes temperature-compensated biasing circuitry and a power-down enable/disable circuit. The IC requires a 4.5V to 5.25V supply and comes in a 4 x 4 mm QFP package priced at $3.70 each/1,000. For more details, call Afshin Odabaee at LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP, Milpitas, CA. (408) 432-1900 ext 2593.
