Terminal Block Shunts Secondaries With One Switch
January 2003 Issue
Published Date: January 01, 2003
Created to prevent injuries and damage to equipment during maintenance, a current transmission (CT) circuit terminal block safely shorts out three or four CT secondaries with one movement of a lockable slide switch. The K-Block CT Ratchet Shunt is a DIN-rail mountable terminal block for CT circuits available in 4- to 6-pole configurations. The device can be locked in either an energized or de-energized position for additional safety. Also, the shunt aims to save time, as it eliminates the need for jumpers or shorting screws, as well as the task of shorting and unshorting each secondary. Constructed from molded thermoplastics, the terminal blocks are rated for 600V, 30A and have less than 10 milliohms contact resistance. Pricing starts at $6.95 each for a three-position unit, depending on quantity. KONNEXT INC., Hudson, MA. (978) 567-0800.
