Connector Supports LVDS Transmissions Over FR-4 PCBs
September 2002 Issue
Published Date: September 01, 2002
The FCN-260D, a right-angle, board-to-board socket added to the MicroGiGaCN connector series, enables LVDS transmissions of 3.125 Gb/s and greater over pc boards made of a FR-4 material. A modified strip-line structure that shields each signal pair is credited for the interconnect's ±10% impedance matching and its near-end crosstalk of 4% or less at a rise time of 50 ps. The socket is available in 12-, 24- and 36-pair models and is rated at 30 Vdc, 0.5A signal current and 1A ground current. Other features of FCN-260D sockets include a 0.75-mm signal-to-ground contact pitch, 1.5-mm signal-to-signal contact pitch, and a 0.5-mm surface-mount lead pitch. Price is $5.50 each/10,000.
