Piezo Switches Tout 50 Million Cycle Life
September 2002 Issue
Published Date: September 01, 2002
Employing piezo technology, a new line of switches has a life expectancy in excess of 50 million cycles. The switch withstands water and contamination by coffee, glue and other substances and is also unaffected by EMI and RFI. It is well-suited for harsh applications, such as beverage dispensers, security equipment, banking kiosks, medical equipment and more. Available models are NO, NC, NO (pulse), NC (pulse) and programmable output pulse lengths. The NO and NC models are rated 200 mA at 24V and have a switch resistance of less than 10W. Standard models in 16 mm and 22 mm round and square configurations are available with or without LED illumination. Pricing for a representative NO (pulse) unit, model PBAR5AF1000, is $13.85 each/100.
