CMOS Image Sensor Enters High-Res, Low-Cost Market
August 2002 Issue
Published Date: August 01, 2002
Designed for the high-resolution, low-cost camera market, the ICM-108B is a 1.3-Mpixel, CMOS image sensor that incorporates a 1,280 x 1,024 sensor array capable of operating at up to 30 fps and sub-sampling at quarter (1/4) and quarter-quarter (1/16) megapixel resolutions. It is also capable of operating at higher frame rates in a progressive manner and features a pixel size of 6 µm x 6 µm and a sensor area of 7.68 mm x 6.144 mm. Correlated double sampling is performed via an internal 11-bit A/D converter and timing circuitry. Output is in the form of 10-bit raw data that can be fed to DSP, color-processing or compression chips. In ceramic LCC48 packaging, the CMOS image sensor is priced at $12.50 each/100K.
