Servo Amp Provides Sensing And Commutation
June 2002 Issue
Published Date: June 01, 2002
The AECS 35/3 sensorless servo amplifier provides closed-loop velocity control via sensing back EMF of the motor or by commutation only. Designed for brushless motors without sensors, the amplifier can drive two-pole motors at speeds up to 90,000 rpm. It operates on power from 8 to 35 Vdc and can deliver a continuous current of 5A peak. Velocity is controlled by either an internal potentiometer or an external voltage, and direction, disable and brake functions can be controlled by external switches. The amplifier measures 74 mm x 51 mm x 30 mm, weighs 20g, an operates in temperatures from 0°C to 40°C. For price, call James Talent at MAXON PRECISION MOTORS, INC., Burlingame, CA. (800) 865-7540.
