Resettable Circuit Protectors Now Come Lead-Free
March 2002 Issue
Published Date: March 01, 2002
The electronics industryÕs migration to lead-free assembly and manufacturing has been joined by yet another line of components, in this case the popular nanoSMDM series of PolySwitch resettable circuit protection devices. The lead-free components feature gold-plated terminals that can be installed using either leaded or lead-free solder. Designed for use in portable electronics, computer products, telecomm equipment, and other products where board real estate must be conserved, the small form-factor (1206) devices can handle operating currents of 0.5A, 0.75A and 1.0A and help protect circuits rated up to 6V from over-current surges as high as 40A. The nanoSMDM series also features fast time-to-trip and low on-board resistance. Samples of the lead-free devices are available, with volume pricing starting at $0.23 each.
