Chip Suppresses ESD In Less Space And Uses Lead-Free Plating
March 2002 Issue
Published Date: March 01, 2002
Now available in a smaller, 0603 size, this latest addition to the SurgX polymer-based family of electrostatic discharge (ESD) suppressors features very low leakage current, a fast response time, and is made using lead-free plating. The bi-directional SMT device exceeds 11EC61000-4-2 requirements. SurgX chips come in single and multi-line array formats in footprints now as small as 60 x 30 mils. They are designed to activate only when subjected to an ESD pulse and feature a capacitance of less than 0.25 pF, a very low noise level, and are said to be virtually invisible to circuits, even those operating at high frequencies, when not activated by an ESD pulse.
