Pair Of One-Eighth Bricks Launched In Converter Mart
March 2002 Issue
Published Date: March 01, 2002
Two power supply manufacturers have recently announced development of the industryƕs first one-eighth-size dc/dc converters. The one-eighth bricks require about 60% less board space than the well-established quarter brick units, while also offering the same pin-out as the quarter bricks. Here are some key details on each of these two new power sources. Mechanical dimensions of 2.28"L x 0.8"W x 0.36"H give the E-Class isolated, one-eighth brick dc/dc converters a power density of 75W/in.3. And with a width of just 0.8" and an efficiency of up to 90%, the 30A/in.3 converters are said to be among the smallest 15A-20A units on the market. The E-Class dc/dc converters work off of input voltages ranging from 36 to 75 Vdc and are currently available in models for delivering 3.3V, 2.5V and 1.8V. Price: $52 each/1,000.
