Mini-LVDS Specification Reduces Signal Traces On LCD Cards
November 2001 Issue
Published Date: November 01, 2001
Now available royalty-free is the mini-LVDS (low voltage differential signaling) specification used to interface the timing controller to the source drivers for driving high-resolution liquid crystal display (LCD) panels in notebook PCs and LCD monitors. Developed in conjunction with IBM, the mini-LVDS specification reportedly reduces by 60% the number of signal traces required in LCD control modules, resulting in simpler board layouts, increased performance, lower costs, reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI) and more energy efficient LCDs for flat-panel displays. For more information on the open mini-LVDS specification, contact TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, Dallas, TX. (800) 336-5236.
