7/8" Coaxial Cable Handles Wireless Applications
November 2001 Issue
Published Date: November 01, 2001
The HELIAX LDF5-50B 7/8" low-density foam dielectric cable employs lower loss closed cell polyethylene foam dielectric material to produce, it is claimed, the lowest attenuation among 7/8" corrugated cables. At 824 MHz, the attenuation is 1.05 dB per 100', and at 1,800 MHz, it is 1.63 dB. According to the company, at UMTS frequencies of 2,035 MHz, the cable has the same line loss as standard 7/8" cable at GSM frequencies of 1,798 MHz. The company also says the new cable can be used on some tower applications, where 1-1/4" or larger cable is normally used. ANDREW CORP., Orland Park, IL. (800) 255-1479.
