Kelvin Probes Address Any Leaded SMT Package May 2000 Issue Published Date: May 01, 2000
With a body height of 7 mm, the Kelvin True Measure MicroGripper (FP-KELVIN-2) clip-on Kelvin probes allow users to obtain a true four-wire measurement for any leaded surface-mount package. The dual test-probe tines can connect to a lead on such packages as SOIC, TSOP, PQFP, SSOP, TSSOP, TVSOP, and VSOP. Flexible wire strands are included to provide for stability while accessing signals. They are compatible with most four-wire instruments and are claimed to be excellent for resistances below 1 ohm. Other features include a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C, conductor resistance of 60 milliohms, contact resistance of 10 milliohms, bandwidth of >100 MHz at 3 dB, an inductance of <1 mH at 1 kHz, and a capacitance of <2 pF at 1 kHz. The probes are rated at 500W vdc. Two probes come in a package and are priced at $53 with delivery from stock.
