Low-Cost ADC Targets Mainstream Audio Apps

Claimed to be a low-cost solution for mainstream consumer audio applications that include karaoke systems, audio/video capture systems, video conferencing, and digital television, the PCM1801 16-bit A/D converter contains a fifth–order, delta-sigma modulator with 64x oversampling. The modulator also includes a digital decimation filter, internal high-pass filter, and a single-ended-to-differential analog front end. The device accepts industry-standard data formats and supports slave-mode operation with a 256-, 384-, or 512-fs system clock frequency. Available in a 14-lead SOIC package, the PCM1801 operates on a single 5V power supply and is priced at $2.25 each/1000.
