Board Said To Be First To Tap SHARC ADSP-21160 DSP
April 2000 Issue
Published Date: April 01, 2000
Claiming to be the first board based on the 32-bit ADSP-21160 SHARC DSP, the Hammerhead-PCI board targets high-performance applications demanding tightly-integrated, floating point performance. The board incorporates the company's FIN ASIC to interface the SHARC processors to the 64-bit, 66-MHz PCI bus, SDRAM, flash memory, and a general-purpose expansion bus. It also provides a set of DMA functions and interrupt options to support very high-speed, real-time data flow with minimum processor overhead.
In addition to using four of the ADSP-21160 processors, the Hammerhead-PCI board also employs 64 MB of SDRAM with an optional configuration that supports up to 512 MB. The 64-bit, 66-MHz PCI bus gives the host computer direct access to the DSPs, the external SDRAM, flash RAM, a dual UART, and the PMC sites.
